5 Things That Show How Committed An Athlete Really Is.
1. The Questions they ask.
2. The time they arrive at practice.
3. Their ability to listen and carry out instructions.
4. The attitude and effort they bring daily.
5. Their lifestyle and habits outside of practice time.
The word “disciple” means to train or to teach and is the root word for “discipline”. The goal of any disciplinary action is not to punish but to correct and change a behavior. When a athlete refuses to accept the option to change it results in levels of consequences which can eventually become, “you can no longer be part of the team”.
As much as possible, eliminate the emotion from conversations, confrontation and decisions and approach each situation with calm truth… “I am for you, we can work on this together but I will hold you accountable”.
